Enfield Transitional Learning Program (ETLA)

Our 18–22 Transition Program supports young adults with disabilities as they move from high school into adult life. Designed for students ages 18 through 22 who have completed their academic requirements, this program focuses on building the skills, confidence, and independence needed for life beyond school.

Preparing for Life After High School

The transition years are an important time for growth. Our program provides individualized instruction and real-world experiences in key areas such as:

  • Employment readiness and job training
  • Independent living skills/Activities of daily living
  • Self-care
  • Community participation
  • Social skills/Interpersonal Relationships
  • Communication
  • Self-Determination/Self-Advocacy
  • Post-secondary education
  • Transition services to assist students when applying for support after age 22

Students learn in classroom settings, community locations, college sites, and workplace environments to ensure meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Individualized and Student-Centered

Each student has a personalized transition plan based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. Our team collaborates with families, local businesses, Springfield College, CT State Asnuntuck, and community agencies to create opportunities that reflect each student’s vision for adulthood.

Real-World Experience

Through job coaching, travel training, and daily living practice, students develop practical skills that promote independence. Whether the goal is competitive employment, supported employment, further education, or greater independence at home and in the community, our program provides structured support every step of the way.

Partnering with Families

We believe successful transitions happen through strong partnerships.  We value our relationships with families, and we actively encourage open communication and participation in the planning process.
